NatterCast is recorded on a [http://www.zoom.co.jp/english/products/h4n/ Zoom H4n digital recorder] and two [http://www.sennheiserusa.com/professional-shotgun-microphone-cardoid-reporting-film-broadcast-applications_k6-series_003284 Sennheiser ME66 shotgun microphones] which double as our boom microphones on our [FilmMaking film making] projects.  We may choose to switch over to the more typical studio [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microphone#Omnidirectional omnidirectional microphone], but one of the advantages of the [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microphone#Shotgun shotgun microphones] is that they are highly directional, making it easier to filter out noise.

After we record, the NatterCast is edited and filtered in [http://www.apple.com/logicstudio/soundtrackpro/ Soundtrack Pro].  The music intro and outro are added and a high-pass filter at about 200-250hz is applied to clean out the bass noise and punch the treble in our otherwise [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Earl_Jones James Earl Jones-] and [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kathleen_Turner Kathleen Turner-] like voices.
