[http://www.sionshankel.com Sion] and I both watch programs twice.  Once to get the story down and once to pay attention to details and spot foreshadowing.  We generally try to record immediately after the second viewing so the episode will be fresh in our memories.

NatterCast is recorded on a [http://www.zoom.co.jp/english/products/h4n/ Zoom H4n digital recorder] and two [http://www.sennheiserusa.com/professional-shotgun-microphone-cardoid-reporting-film-broadcast-applications_k6-series_003284 Sennheiser ME66 shotgun microphones] which double as our boom microphones on our [FilmMaking film making] projects.  We may choose to switch over to the more typical studio [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microphone#Omnidirectional omnidirectional microphone], but one of the advantages of the [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microphone#Shotgun shotgun microphones] is that they are highly directional, making it easier to filter out noise.
